Vase signed François-Théodore Legras. Art Nouveau, Late 19th Century

This large glass vase with acid-etched country decor is signed François-Théodore Legras (1839 – 1916), one of the four great masters of the Art Nouveau style of the late 19th century and the turn of the 20th century. The collar is slightly flared and has a roll shape in shades of pink. In the background is a village, a peaceful landscape observed by the shepherd sitting close to his flock.

This is one of François-Théodore Legras‘s favourite themes, marked from an early age by the forest and lake landscapes of the Ouche valley and in particular those of the Darney forest.
