Glaive Poto or N’Gombe from the Democratic Republic of Congo, 19th century
Probably a parade weapon, this glaive cast in one piece is decorated with patterns made by engraving short hatchings. The padded leather pommel has old repair stitching with very patinated thread. The whole thing is presented on a custom-made base.
