Empire style desk, 19th century
Wide and comfortable, sober and elegant, this large desk has all the stylistic characteristics of the French Empire style. The pure lines of the top covered with a gilded tan leather are naturally in harmony with the slightly curved uprights joined by a spacer. Note the remarkable gilded and finely chiseled bronzes adorning the legs and the mahogany veneer with its tawny shades. A slight discoloration on the left drawers shows the passage of time without affecting this desk, a proof of the very good quality of this piece of furniture, as well in its aesthetics as in its conception.
