Still Life Signed F. Suzingler. England, 1896
Oranges cut into quarters and others wrapped in paper, red cherries and a few black cherries are arranged around a glass and a bottle of wine. This still life could just as easily be the image of a dreamy dessert of fruit and wine (or cherry?) because oranges and cherries are not harvested in the same season! Without doubt, these sweet fruits are intended for a single guest; the glass alone bears witness to this. This beautiful canvas in perfect condition naturally shows cracks of its age since this oil on canvas signed “F. Suzinger” was exhibited in Bristol in 1896.
