Mixed technique on canvas. signed, dated and dedicated by the hand of the painter.
Accustomed to the banks of the Saintonge and Charentes, the Gironde estuary or views of the Périgord, the painter Louis-Alexandre Cabié (1853 – 1939) is a discreet master dear to the hearts of the people of Bordeaux (among others!). He who painted charming landscapes for the Vieillard earthenware factory, however, had a difficult life. Of course he exhibited and received the Legion of Honor, but he sadly died in poverty in Bordeaux.
His work, influenced by Camille Corot’s first impressionism, reveals a remarkable sensitivity to atmospheres, a sure palette also soft and light. From his paintings emerges a pensive contemplation in the velvety lights of the end of the day.
This view, probably one of the Gironde estuary, uses mixed techniques. The painter signed, dated and dedicated his painting lower left. Perfect condition.
