Glass Mounted in Goldsmithery, 19th Century
Tinted throughout with a rich ruby hue, this glass is decorated with scalloped motifs, an evocation of Bérain style, in the most obvious citation of the Louis XIV style. Lip and foot are in chiseled gilt bronze while a middle ring is worked in the manner of Venetian glass. A typical piece of the historicist wave of the 19th century, this glass is the fruit of a rediscovery of old styles, of a re-appropriation of techniques in the light of the innovations of this century and above all of a renewed taste for cabinets. curiosities, installed in opulent apartments or rich bourgeois houses. This piece is in very good condition.
