Chinese Cabinet, 19th Century

This Chinese or Chinese influenced furniture from the northern regions of Vietnam belongs to the category of high-end Luo-tien furniture, regularly made of mahogany and mother-of-pearl, like ours. It bears three ideograms identifying the “Three Stars of Happiness”, auspicious deities named Lù, Fú and Shòu, highly valued in Chinese culture. There are also motifs evoking spring and good fortune such as prunus flowers, butterflies and bats.
