Neoclassical Trumeau or Mirror. Empire Period, 19th Century
Sober and with a classic pediment, this trumeau giving prominence to the mirror, is painted in an English green, the shade of which perfectly matches the decorative elements enhanced with gold leaf. The uprights are decorated with a string of pearls, laurel wreaths, while both – pediment and uprights – are adorned with palmettes and rosettes and acanthus leaves. Everything in this decorative vocabulary stems from the neoclassical taste specific to the Empire and initiated by the artisans and interior designers working in the palaces of Napoleon I.
The whole is in very good condition.
