Bust of Marie-Antoinette, Biscuit de Sèvres, 19th/20th century
In 1783, Félix Lecomte presented a marble bust of Queen Marie-Antoinette. A landmark work. Draped in a fleur-de-lys mantle and wearing a “pouf aux sentiments”, a more or less vertiginous hairstyle whose accessories are capable of conveying the lady’s state of mind, the queen is depicted here with modesty, a few flowers in her hair. Around her neck, she wears a medallion bearing the effigy of her husband Louis XVI.
This biscuit edition is an art production from the Sèvres porcelain workshops. The manufacture’s mark of two interlaced Ls can be seen above the blue porcelain pedestal. Perfect condition
