Neo-Renaissance Desk, 19th century
It is at least worthy of a castle! This beautiful table has received the full attention of its cabinetmaker. The care given to every detail is remarkable. Its top covered in gilded leather rests on a molded cornice in blackened wood, itself supported by a frieze of palm leaves. Four fluted shafts are supported by leaf motifs echoed by corner tops. A large turned wood spacer joins the two molded legs.
Drawers open on one of the lengths via sockets whose shape follows that of the shoulders. The sculpture is in very good condition.
