Walnut Cabinet, 19th Century

Desired sober and without a profusion of too ostentatious ornaments, this large walnut cabinet with inlaid lemon tree fillets has this simple and warm charm that the shades of local wood carry so well. Its cornice houses a frieze of beautifully sculpted ovum. Opening with 10 drawers thanks to chiselled gilded brass handles, this cabinet has nothing to envy to its more pompous cousins since it reveals, like them, in its center a pretty little theatre. Probably initially placed in a castle or a house bourgeois, this cabinet made it possible to store mail and small objects as well as some curiosities dear to their owner.
The cabinet rests on its original base, the finesse of which can be admired: at the corners, very beautiful acanthus leaves matches the movement of the top while it rests on four uprights in turned wood which are reminiscent of Medieval furniture.
The whole is in very good condition.
