Sterling silver gravy boat, late 19th / early 20th century
Indispensable to the art of the table, this solid silver gravy boat evokes in a refined style the shapes of the end of the reign of Louis XVI. Sprigs of parsley form the handles of this delicate object weighing 824 grams. Struck with a clear Minerva hallmark, this sauce boat in perfect condition is the work of Alphonse Debain who worked at 79 rue du Temple in Paris. His maker’s mark is here perfectly identifiable with these initials separated by a woodcock.
