Small Ivory Okimono, 19th Century
No taller than an apple, this beautifully sculpted little okimono carries in its arms a bird whose species it cannot be said to belong to raptor, duck or auspicious crane. The man does not seem to worry about it either and seems rather serene, no doubt it is a common bird! In a beautiful milky ivory, this small okimono – probably Chinese – is in perfect condition.
