Shell-Shaped Musician’s Seat, 19th Century
The Belle Époque took care of elegance even in the armchairs of its musicians. Inspired by neo styles and symbolism, the years 1880 – 1900 sculpted this charming seat with a shell-shaped rotating seat, in molded and carved walnut. It rests on a tripod base with claw feet which are joined by a concave crosspiece. This piece is in perfect condition. Under the seat, pencil inscriptions seem to indicate the name of the manufacturer, Italian, perhaps Gubili. This seat is height adjustable.
