Painted and Gilded glass, « Verre églomisé », signed Benoît Duclaud Pellé, 21st century

This technique consists of fixing a thin sheet of gold or silver under the glass, then the drawing is executed with a drypoint. It can be enriched with different colors. The whole is held together by a second layer or a glass plate.

The technique already known from Antiquity is used here in a modern way, depicting macaws in tropical foliage populated by pretty colored insects. The use of gold gives each color a warmth that it does not usually have and gives a lot of character to this work in perfect condition.
