Oil on panel signed Henry (or Henri) Vollet, late 19th / early 20th century
This lovely oil on panel is hand-signed by the painter Henry (sometimes spelled Henri) Vollet. Contemporary and close to the Pont-Aven school, Henry Vollet made many trips to Brittany before settling in Faoüet in the 1920s. In a style combining the ethnographic appeal of Realism with the impressionist touch, he modestly captured moments of everyday Breton life. His works are distinguished in particular by their peaceful and soft character reflected by an admirable mastery of the rendering of lights. Several of his works are now preserved and exhibited at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris.
