Oil on Canvas Entitled “Le Bouquet Bleu” and Signed Marcel Depré (1919 – 1990)
As much influenced by classic still lifes as by the modernist movements that ran throughout the 20th century, this painting by Marcel Depré changes its usual subjects. This artist, who became an official painter of the Navy in 1973, has won several prizes thanks to works oriented towards life on the coast. This former student of the École d’Estienne in Paris from 1933 to 1937 stood out in artistic circles for his characteristic touch drawing both on Cubism and on the optical works of Robert and Sonia Delaunay. Several works by Marcel Depré are now kept at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, the National Marine Museum and the Museum of Baux-de-Provence. Our canvas in perfect condition is offered unframed.
