Marble bust. Amedeo Gennarelli (1881 – 1943), XXth century

The prodigy pupil of Francesco Jerace (1853 – 1937) worked for this bust an immaculate white marble to give it all the modeling of an idealized female incarnation of Art Deco. This sculptor, who settled in Paris at the age of 28, quickly found his place in the artistic effervescence of the first half of the 20th century. Known for his female nudes, his thoughtful portraits or even for this portrait of an inspired Beethoven, Gennarelli is less famous for a few vibrant and cheerful portraits like the one we present.
If his bronze sculptures are frequent, those in marble are less so, especially in such large formats. Our white marble sculpture mounted by the artist on a block of black marble (where Gennarelli’s signature appears) is in perfect condition but its substantial weight (over 20 kilos) will require a transport quote for careful and risk-free delivery.
