Large Marine signed Claude Meyra, circa 1950/1960
A little-known painter, Claude Meyra nevertheless appears in the French national archives since the State acquired one of his works in 1954. We learn on this occasion that his real name is Homont but the archives do not fail to specify that he is “said Meyra”. Our painter must also have frequented Paris and the artistic milieu of his time since his name is once again found in the Marc Vaux collection. The latter, a figure of Montparnasse, produced thousands of photographs, of which 250,000 are part of the Center Pompidou collection and allow the social life of the works and artists, famous or unknown, that he photographed between the 1930s and the 1970s to be retraced. Oil on canvas signed, some lacks in the frame.
