Directory Style Mahogany Chest of Drawers. France, 19th Century
Here is a chest of drawers whose creator deserve to be applauded ! Sobriety, shimmering exotic wood and delicate golden brass, everything here is a perfect evocation of the French Directory style. The wooden top and the uprights are rounded, giving a soft look to the entire piece of furniture. The three drawers mounted in dovetails open using nicely chiseled and embossed handles but discreet enough not to disturb the elegance of this chest of drawers. The first drawer is divided into two storage compartments. The tapered legs raise the dresser slightly and continue towards the top via fluted uprights. The structure of this furniture is in oak and the whole is in very good condition (missing two locks).
