Decorative Bronze, 19th Century

While the second half of the 19th century saw the triumph of realistic painters and writers, sculptors were not left out. Ordinary subjects of popular rural or urban life are elevated to the rank of works of art. Unlike the pastorals of the previous century, the subjects are no longer idealized, but represented in all their truth. Like our cart pulled by a small stocky horse adorned with its collar. The sculptor pushed the detail to the point of making a panel of the cart removable. This furniture is in perfect condition.
