Crystal Bowl, Gilded Bronze and Mother-of-Pearl Base, 19th Century
Like an Atlantean, this gilded bronze putto bears a laurel wreath above his head supporting an opalescent cut crystal cup. The gilded bronze ball seems to be a rock emerging from the water, evoked by the engraved mother-of-pearl base. The putto, perched lightly, seems ready to pounce on the next pebble. On the edge of the base, a series of flowers is chiseled in the manner of a guilloche pattern. The set is in perfect condition.
