Chest of Drawers, Louis XIV Period. Early 18th century
This remarkable chest of drawers dated from the very beginning of the XVIIIth century knew the end of the reign of King Louis XIV.
All in rosewood, it is inlaid on the front and sides as well as on the top, a very typical feature of the Louis XIV style. The original “bridge of cubes” motif, enhanced only by gilded bronze, is to be admired.
Grotesque figure keyways, acanthus leaf handles, fluting, ormolu feet and belts give this piece of furniture a rare elegance.
