Cameo Glass Vase Signed Émile Gallé (1846 – 1904), Circa 1900
Who is still unaware of Émile Gallé’s love for the Vosges neighboring his city of Nancy? Here are engraved the sensitivities of the famous glassmaker for these landscapes that he surveyed for a long time, as much for pleasure as to support his knowledge of botany.
On this chunky vase made of etched and acid-etched multi-layered glass, there is a lake landscape that is immediately recognized as the famous blue line of the Vosges. The rotating decor draws a landscape in beautiful shades of blue lit by a rising sun sky, skilfully produced in white glass slightly tinted yellow, like a play of light through the morning mists. This vase is in perfect condition.
