Bronze Vase Signed Henry Dasson (1825-1896) and Dated 1891
The cabinetmaker and bronze artist Henry Dasson (1825-1896) specialized in the interpretation, even the replica, of royal furniture from the century preceding him. For this high-quality production, he received awards at each of the exhibitions in which he participated during the second half of the 19th century.
His decorative art objects, such as this vase, draw on the neoclassical repertoire that became fashionable during the reign of Louis XVI. Here, tritons support the neck of the vase with twisted gadroons evoking the movement of water. The whole, in very good condition, rests on a marble base.
