Bronze “Le Réveil” signed Fernand David (1872 – 1926)
Fernand David, Parisian sculptor, had a little notoriety in his time, he who trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris before presenting his works in bronze at the Salon des artistes français from 1898 to 1914. He obtained a honorable mention in 1899 then a 3rd class medal in 1901 and a travel scholarship in 1904.
This lovely little bronze with a bronze patina, all in soft curves, evokes the female figures of Mucha and one would be tempted to affiliate Le Réveil with the Art Nouveau movement.
This bronze in very good condition is signed on the embankment.
