Chinese Cupboard, Early 20th Century

Adorned with motifs of birds and lotus flowers, this cabinet with plenty of storage has all the finery of Asian furniture from the early 20th century. While Japonism has seduced Europe since the Paris World’s Fair of 1878, merchants – including Siegfried Bing – specialize in importing Chinese furniture. Perhaps our furniture was imported by one of these many European merchants, very active with Chinese artisans. The whole is in very good condition.
