When it comes to design, the Italians win hands down the prize for fantasy. Their creations from the 1950s onwards are remarkably free and borrow from all the codes. A fine example is this pair of armchairs from the 1950s. These two seats are designed in reference to Scandinavian furniture with the warm wooden structure, to bourgeois codes with velvet, to an optimistic youth in these first post-war years with this cheerful and joyful sky blue.
