Chinese Style Earthenware Vase with Gilded Bronze Mount, 19th Century
This blue baluster vase is decorated with a bird in foliage in the Chinese style. Its shape as well as that of the gilded bronze mount evokes the Louis XV style while the blue of the earthenware cites Sèvres blue. Between Asian inspiration and reminiscence of the Rocaille style, this art object could not be more French! In perfect condition, it is a characteristic creation of the learned historicist style of the 19th century.
