A Hispano-Dutch cabinet, late Renaissance, 17th century
This prestigious piece of furniture is presented here on its pedestal. On its frame, a veneer of tortoiseshell, blackened wood and ivory tablets engraved with scrolls and hunting scenes – very fashionable at the time – adorns the drawers. The remarkable set, probably Hispanic, features corner escutcheons and golden brass headed nails with flower motif, punctuating and enriching the 18 drawers and front.
