She was notably a pupil of the painter L\u00e9on Pierre F\u00e9lix (1869 &#8211; 1940), himself a pupil of L\u00e9on Bonnat (1833 &#8211; 1922) and William Bouguereau (1825 &#8211; 1905). She also studied with the painter Louis-Fran\u00e7ois Biloul (1874 &#8211; 1947).<\/p>\n<p>She exhibited several times at the Salon des artistes fran\u00e7ais, at least in 1931 and 1934 as can be read on the stamp mark printed on the frame at the back of the canvas. A notable singularity distinguishes Marguerite G\u00e9ry-Galy from her male colleagues since she seems to paint almost exclusively female subjects engaged in modern activities.<br \/>\nThus, it presents women gathered around a tea after a game of tennis, women wearing the boyish cut and dressed in the fashion of the Roaring Twenties.
